ATU Sligo
ATU Sligo (formerly IT Sligo) have developed Ireland’s largest suite of online part time programmes for the civil engineering and construction sector. They have also partnered with Irish Water, TII, The Department of Transport, and the SCSI for bespoke programme offerings to address key industry needs. Recently, ATU have created Ireland’s Civil Engineering Apprenticeship Consortium and have received funding to develop and deliver Ireland’s Civil Engineering Apprenticeships from Higher Cert to Masters level. They offer many programmes, which have incorporated lean thinking and tools such as the Post grad Cert in BIM and Lean Construction Management and an MSc in Project Management. They will shortly be launching a free Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) in Lean Construction. Lat year they received the Irish Construction Excellent (ICE) award for the best post graduate programme for the Meng in Road and Transport Engineering. This was the first online programme to achieve Chartered Engineering certification by Engineer’s Ireland. ATU work closely with industry to ensure effective knowledge transfer in both directions. They are active in research and consultancy in many areas such as civil, water and transport engineering as well as lean construction, project management, quality management and process optimisation.
